Voices of Color Open Mic
A Celebration of Houston Writers
hosted by Adrienne Perry and FuenteCo
Join us for an open mic celebrating the voices of Houston’s writers of color!
Whether poets or prose writers, playwrights or young adult authors, Houston-based writers of color have roots around the country and globe and work in every conceivable genre, style, and across languages. If you identify as a writer of color, bring your fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and everything in-between to read on the Voices of Color stage!
Signup will start at 6.30 pm on the night of the event. Get there early to secure a 5-minute spot.
WHAT TO READ: Anything. In any language. Bring your poems about Peter Pan, flash fiction about encounters with feral kitties, essays imparting visions of love and world peace, or the newest pages in your YA novel. The field of possibility is wide open, so read work that speaks your truth and share what inspires you.
WHAT NOT TO READ: We will not tolerate readings that are racist, sexist, ableist, or contain hate speech against any minority groups. We reserve the right to end any reading with material or themes we deem unacceptable for these or other reasons.
