Bad Love: A Microfiction & Poetry Contest

Stop by the FuenteCo table at Sin Muros for a chance to enter our first-ever writing contest, themed to match our upcoming event, BAD LOVE: A Dark Valentine's Eve Reading & Open Mic. Enter a poem (up to 13 lines) or a piece of microfiction (up to 130 words) for a chance to win a prize and the opportunity to present your winning piece at our February 13th reading!

Feel free to start working on your submission in advance, but the only place to submit will be during our tabling hours at Sin Muros (Fri, Feb 2, 5-8 pm & Sat, Feb 3, 12-8 pm). Stop by for a chat!

WHAT TO SUBMIT: Anything about bad love, sad love, love gone hilariously wrong, love cynically rejected, love misplaces, love lost. Feel free to interpret the theme widely: it doesn't have to be romantic love—you can talk about family relations gone sour, friends turned enemies, your cat whom you love but who hates you, or the book you tried to love but that sorely disappointed your expectations. We can't wait to see how you interpret the theme! Write in English, Spanish, or a mix of languages!

WHAT NOT TO SUBMIT: Anything that involves acts of violence committed in the name of love; anything that is racist, sexist, ableist, or that contain hate speech against any minority groups.

Winner and runner-ups will be announced on January 7, 2018.
